Northwest Territories (NWT) fur harvesters,
in partnership with the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT),
are proud to confirm the continuation of the wild fur marketing program.
Under the brand label Genuine Mackenzie Valley Furs™
(GMVF), all NWT harvested fur that meets our standard for high quality,
will continue to be offered in exclusive GMVF lots at auction and
under private treaty by Fur Harvesters Auction in North Bay.
Our mission is to ensure that only superior Northern Canadian wild
furs are offered under the GMVF label. As a buyer, you can be confident
that fur marketed under the GMVF brand meets stringent standards of
excellence.
Promoting and identifying NWT fur at auction creates a unique relationship
between the buyer and harvester. Ultimately, GMVF harvesters benefit
from the premium price they receive at auction and the customer is
guaranteed the best quality product the industry has to offer.
All wild furs in the GMVF collection:
- Comply with European markets guidelines.
- Meet the standards set out in the Agreement
on International Humane Trap Standards.
- Are harvested as part of an ongoing, centuries
old tradition using the most humane harvesting techniques in the
fur industry today.
- Are collected, inspected and shipped to the
auction by the Department of Resources, Wildlife and Economic
Development on behalf of the harvester. Our quality control standards
ensure that all GMVF fur is of the highest quality.
The Government of the Northwest Territories is committed
to improving the livelihood of fur harvesters and continues to be
an active supporter of the Canadian wild fur industry. |

Genuine Mackenzie Valley Furs (GMVF)
will continue to provide Sew-In Labels to buyers of exclusive Genuine
Mackenzie Valley Furs bundles. These distinctive labels will be available
by request from Fur Harvesters Auction Inc.
